"It's May 9th, 11:59 PM - one minute until May 10th, which is Jinyoung's birthday." Hyunsuk thought to himself while looking at his phone’s home screen. “I think it’ll be a nice idea to surprise him”.

Hyunsuk got off his bed and sat on the couch that was facing Jinyoung’s bed. He looked at the exhausted Jinyoung who was still sound asleep and smiled. 

He got out of the room and knocked on Yonghee’s door. Yonghee opened the door while rubbing one eye. “Hyung, it’s Jinyoung’s birthday!!” Hyunsuk said excitedly.

“Yeah, I know,” Yonghee said in a sleepy tone. 

“Let's surprise him!!” He shook Yonghee, until he woke his soul up. 

“Okay, okay! Can you stop shaking me now?!” Yonghee said in a bothered tone. “But what do we do?” He asked. 

“I don't know. There isn’t much we can do since we’re on tour. But I really want to make this a memorable birthday for him, especially that he’s been under a lot of pressure because of the rumors that are circulating. I want to prove to everyone who has been accusing us of mistreating Jinyoung that we get along well and we are a good team”. Hyunsuk said with determination.

“Yes, so true! I’m still so mad that they accused us of this! Remember also when a so-called fan threw their lightstick on Jinyoung? I’ll never forgive them for hurting our Jinyoung! He pretended not to be hurt and fake cried just so fans don’t get upset,, but I know deep down that he got hurt so much!!” Yonghee was so mad. “Come on, let’s wake Seunghun and Byounggon hyung up!!” He ordered Hyunsuk to follow him.

They knocked on the door mercilessly, until Seunghun opened it. Hyunsuk and Yonghee got in and made sure both of their hyungs were wide awake before they discussed the topic with them. They decided to divide up into two teams: Hyunsuk & Byounggon, Yonghee & Seunghun. 

Hyunsuk & Byounggon were in charge of the decorations. Seunghun & Yonghee were in charge of the cake and the snacks.

They decided to send two members to the supermarked since it was still midnight, and it’s not safe to leave Jinyoung alone in the hotel as there might be stalker fans. Hyunsuk and Yonghee knew well that keeping or sending the hyungs together would be so chaotic. So, Hyunsuk and Seunghun went, keeping Yonghee and Byounggon with Jinyoung. 

They boys decided to split up, Hyunsuk going to the decorations section and Seunghun getting the food. They each got a helium balloon to track each other in the store. 

After spending some time in the supermarket, the boys were done from their groceries and were ready to pay. 

“Did you get everything?” Seunghun asked Hyunsuk.

“Yes, I did. What about you, hyung?”

“I did.”

“Are you sure?” Hyunsuk squinted his eyes.

“Aw, come on Hyunsuk-ah! Don't you trust me?!” Seunghun felt offended.

“Haha, just kidding hyung! I obviously trust you.” Hyunsuk chuckled a bit. 

Seunghun smiled and petted his head.

Once they finished, they returned back to the hotel. 

Of course they didn’t set the decorations yet, in case Jinyoung might see them in the morning. But the smart brain, Yonghee, had an idea. He thought about making a fake decoration and party. The members agreed with the plan thinking it’s a smart idea and it’ll save them a lot of time. They’ll just have to change a few things, instead of starting from scratch. 

They all gathered up. Hyunsuk was setting the decorations with Byounggon. Yonghee and Seunghun were decorating the white frosting cake with strawberries, berries, and other appealing things. While they were at it, Byounggon peaked from Seunghun’s back. Seunghun moved to the side, causing Byounggon to lose balance which he ended up falling on the cake. His face was buried into the cake. Seunghun started laughing uncontrollably. Yonghee looked at the both of them with a grumpy face. “Ah, hyung!!” He growled. He glared at Seunghun-who was still laughing- cursing with his eyes and sending him death glares. He was so done with those two. 

“What happened, hyung?” Hyunsuk -who just came from downstairs- asked, wondering. 

“They ruined the cake!!” He said, almost ripping his own hair. 

“Guys!! Are you for real?! How did that even happen? Ughhhh…” Hyunsuk felt stressed. 

“Guys, guys. You need to calm down, we’ll go to the store to buy another one..” Seunghun tried to brush it off. 

“No, hyung! Do you think we have time to go again?! Besides, what will our manager think? We didn’t tell him the first time we went, Lucky for you, you didn’t get caught back then! What if he catches us this time?” Yonghee reasoned out. “Ugh, hyung! Please, just go to your room! You and Byounggon hyung! Hyunsuk and I will try to figure it out.” 

“Hyung, are you okay?” Hyunsuk asked Yonghee.

“Ugh, I’m so stressed out because of Byounggon and Seunghun hyung. They literally messed everything up.” Yonghee seemed so stressed out. 

“Hyung, calm down please. We’ll find a solution, I promise.” Hyunsuk gently held Yonghee’s hand. Yonghee looked down and sighed. 

They sat on the couch to calm their nerves down. Suddenly, an idea popped in Hyunsuk’s head. He gasped. 

“Hyung! How about we bake the cake on our own?!” Hyunsuk yelled in question. 

“Oh my God, Hyunsuk! What an idea, you’re a genius!” Yonghee clapped his hands in excitement. 

“Yes, hyung! You’re good at baking, right?” 

“Luckily, I am!” Yonghee smiled brightly. Hyunsuk was shocked, but happy at the same time because of Yonghee’s sudden mood change. 

The boys went downstairs to check if they had the required ingredients for their cake. Lucky for them, all the ingredients were available. 

“Yayyy! We have everything!” Yonghee high-fived Hyunsuk. 

They got the amounts they needed from every ingredient. They started mixing the dry ingredients first, then they added the liquid ingredients. After they’ve mixed everything, they put it in a circular mold then into the oven to bake for 30 minutes. 

While waiting for the cake, they made the white whipping cream. They also decided to use berries to decorate the cake, like the cake they’ve bought. 

- 30 minutes later -

Yonghee wore baking cloves and took the cake out of the oven. He got the cake out of the mold and set it on a rotating plate to decorate it. 

Hyunsuk looked mesmerized, as he saw how skilled Yonghee was while spreading the cream throughout the whole cake. 

“Hyunsuk, can you bring the berries?… Hyunsuk..?” 

“Uh, yes hyung. Sorry.” Hyunsuk apologized for zoning out.

“Why don’t you decorate the cake now, since I did the most?”

“I’d love to.” Hyunsuk winked. 

Yonghee rolled his eyes at his action. They both chuckled. 

Hyunsuk was so focused on decorating the cakes with all the berries he had - strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries - that he didn't realize Yonghee staring at him from the back. 

“You’re so cute when you're focused, you know that Suk?” Yonghee admired the maknae’s cuteness. 

“Th-thank you, hyung.” Hyunsuk got shy and rubbed his nape. A moment of silence occupied the place, before he spoke again. “H-hyung, I’m done.” 

“Really?” Great job, Sukkie!!” Yonghee smiled so much that his eyes smiled with him. He pet Hyunsuk’s head as he praised him. 

“Now, to the fridge!” Yonghee pointed at the fridge cutely.

Hyunsuk carefully placed the cake in the fridge. 

“Lock it.” Yonghee made a “shush” sign. 

Hyunsuk wasn’t sure if this was the right decision, but he did it anyway. 

- The next morning - 

The members woke up early. They had a pre-recording for their upcoming concert in LA.

While they were doing a sound check to make sure the mics and speakers work, Yonghee surprised Jinyoung with a cupcake, he asked Hyunsuk to secretly buy it when he went to the grocery store with Seunghun. 

He inserted a little blue colored candle on it and lit it. They members were dumbfounded and felt embarrassed, except for Hyunsuk who sang alongside Yonghee for Jinyoung. The others sang too, a little later than Hyunsuk and Yonghee but managed to catch up.

As the concert was approaching, more fans started arriving. All of them remembered Jinyoung’s birthday and wished him a “happy birthday”.

The concert started, with each member delivering an amazing performance to the fans. All members shined in their own special ways, everyone had a unique skill and charisma. The show remained like this, with various performances being delivered. Each member had a solo stage as well, covering any song of their choice. 

After an hour and a half, the show was close to end. Before ending it, all members had their ending speech. 

Jinyoung went last. He took his time to thank his fans, members and staff for taking care of him.

After he ended his closing speech, he bowed. 

Everyone clapped and cheered. The members all held hands and bowed in unison. 

“Before we leave, I have something to say guys.” Seunghun spoke. “You all know it's Jinyoung's birthday, right? I want you to sing for him as loud as you can!!” 

“We already know!!!” The fans whined at Seunghun. 

A moment of silence filled the atmosphere for everyone to harmonize. Once they were all good to go, they began singing with their beautiful voices that filled the whole arena. 

They showered Jinyoung with lots of lovely birthday wishes and gifts, wishing him a happy life in the future too. 

This all made Jinyoung feel overwhelmed with emotions. He eventually teared up. Once again, he thanked all the fans for all the love they showed him, especially today. 

After the concert, the members prepared a birthday dinner for Jinyoung and enjoyed the rest of the night together.

Yonghee got the cake he made from the fridge and lit candles on it. “Make a wish”. He smiled at Jinyoung, bringing the cake in the dark room.

He clasped his hands together and closed his eyes for a few seconds then blew the candles. 

After blowing the candles, the members gave him handwritten letters they wrote for him since they couldn’t do much. 

He started from the oldest to youngest, but he had to stop from time to time as he kept getting emotional. One of them always held him, whenever he felt emotional. 

“Thank you, guys.” Jinyoung looked up smiling, rubbing his tears. “This is so beautiful, you guys are really the best family I’ve ever had.” They all pulled him in a group hug. 

“And Yonghee, that cake is really tasty.” He said, kind of embarrassed because he said it at the wrong time. 

“Huh? What do you mean? We bought it.” Seunghun said, unsure of what Jinyoung meant.

“Ha, hyung. You really don’t remember what happened last night, do you?” Yonghee looked at him with a “are you fr hyung” glance. “You guys literally knocked the cake down!” 

“What?!” Jinyoung gasped in shock. 

“Yes, they did. I baked this cake all from scratch! Look at how immature your hyungs are, Jinyoung!” Yonghee exposed the older boys. “Hyunsuk was the only one who helped me.”

“Anyway, did you like the surprise, hyung?” Hyunsuk asked to brighten the mood. 

“Yes, I did. I liked it so much, Sukkie.” He smiled sweetly.

“Aww, what a cutie you are, hyung!” Hyunsuk jumped on Jinyoung, hugging him. 

They spent the rest of the night having snacks while talking about the memories they shared together ever since debut. 

At the end, they all fell asleep in each other’s arms, Jinyoung in the center.
